Requirements
  • The applicant must have effective communication skills.

  • The applicant must comply with Sonic Drive-In policies and procedures and all health and sanitation laws and regulations.
  • The applicant must successfully complete and follow the requirements of all STAR certification and other Sonic Drive-In training programs.
  • The applicant must be able to continuously stand, bend, stoop, lift, stretch, and frequently lift overhead.
  • The applicant must provide proof of United States citizenship or eligibility to work in the United States.
  • The applicant must be at least 16 years of age.
  • For full-time work, the applicant must be able to work 38–45 hours weekly; for part-time work, the applicant can work no more than 29 hours weekly.
  • The applicant is subject to pre-employment background and drug screening.
Responsibilities
  • Perform duties in the basic stations, including fountain and frozen, dresser, front swamp, back swamp, grill, switchboard, expeditor, food preparation, carhop, skating carhop, and drive-through, as needed during a shift.
  • Provide team help and support to other crew members and managers when assigned duties are complete.
  • Operate the switchboard, record customer orders, and repeat orders clearly and understandably.
  • Operate the drive-through window and sales register and make accurate change quickly and efficiently.
  • Prepare fountain drinks and ice cream items.
  • Prepare food by cutting and chopping food items and cooking on grills or in fryers.
  • Prepare food orders efficiently within a three- to four-minute time frame.
  • Package menu items into bags or trays and place drink orders into drink carriers.
  • Serve food to customers efficiently in the drive-through and other basic stations as needed.
  • Move food products weighing up to 50 pounds into the freezer and stock shelves stacked from floor to ceiling.
  • Dispose of trash by transporting bags outside and into dumpsters.
  • Clean all drive-in areas, including sweeping, mopping, washing dishes, wiping countertops, sanitizing, cleaning restrooms, and maintaining the patio and parking lot.
  • Empty used grease.
  • Wash and sanitize food areas, food-preparation tools, and hands frequently.
  • Instruct crew members about placing guests’ needs first.
  • Respond to guest requests respectfully, report guest complaints to the immediate supervisor, and assist in resolving complaints.
  • Immediately report guest or employee accidents to a member of the drive-in management team.
  • Monitor the drive-in working environment for potential employee issues and report issues to management.
  • Wear the required uniform and appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned or required.
Desired Qualifications
  • General knowledge and understanding of quick-service restaurant operations is preferred but not required.
