Requirements
  • Maintain a current, unrestricted Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner license.
  • Hold a Drug Enforcement Administration license or be willing to obtain one.
  • Be comfortable and interested in performing peripheral joint injections involving the knees, shoulders, and hips.
  • Be able to practice independently in an autonomous clinical environment.
  • Have strong communication skills and be able to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Be familiar with electronic health record charting.
Responsibilities
  • Round at one to three skilled nursing facilities or similar rehabilitation centers one to three days per week at each location.
  • Provide specialized physiatry care to patients experiencing difficulty participating in therapy because of pain or functional limitations.
  • Perform focused assessments and develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with facility primary care teams to optimize therapy participation and functional recovery.
  • Provide targeted interventions including joint injections, Botox treatments, dry needling, and medication management based on patient-specific needs.
  • Serve as the sole physiatrist on-site while consulting with the collaborative clinical team as needed.
  • Coordinate care and refer patients to other specialties or services for issues beyond the scope of physiatry.
