The Division of Neonatology at MUSC serves as the Level III Perinatal Regionalization Center for southeastern South Carolina and is the only Level IV Center in the state. The program is ranked as a top Neonatology program by US News and World Report. The Division currently has 13 faculty, approximately 30 APPs, and 9 neonatology fellows. Major areas of academic interest include neonatal nutrition (clinical, translational, and bench research), neonatal kidney injury (translational and clinical research), neural injury (translational and bench research encompassing prevention through recovery), epidemiologic investigations, and research QI. Faculty have access to collaborations with bench researchers in the Darby Children’s Research Institute located on campus, one block from the children’s hospital.
