Requirements
  • The candidate must be located in Lexington or Louisville and willing to travel at least one week per month.
  • A bachelor's degree in Construction, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is required; applicable experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Seven years of relevant project management experience in the construction industry is required.
  • The candidate must have excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • The candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills.
  • The candidate must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • The candidate must be able to handle large volumes of work and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • A basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles is required.
  • The candidate must meet the company's driving requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Support the Engineer Procure Construct Project Manager or Program Manager in overseeing day-to-day operations from pre-construction through project completion and warranty periods.
  • Manage construction project safety, quality, schedule, cost control, contracts, subcontractors, suppliers, proposals, estimates, documentation turnover, client relations, field staff, and other project execution duties.
  • Adhere to company safety programs, trainings, and policies, and promote and manage the safety and health performance of project team members and subcontractors.
  • Oversee day-to-day construction activities and the successful execution of one or multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Provide direction and participate in project planning, scheduling, estimating, cost development, and establishing critical project objectives.
  • Develop new and manage existing client relationships and interface with clients on proposal and project-related items.
  • Participate in internal and external project risk reviews and consult with the Legal Department as required.
  • Negotiate prime contracts, construction management contracts, subcontracts, and change orders.
  • Implement assigned sections of the Project Execution Plan, including construction execution, construction quality assurance, safety and health, subcontracting, staffing, organization, and procurement plans.
  • Develop construction staffing plans, train project teams, coordinate multiple global practices and disciplines, and facilitate cost-effective staff utilization while meeting contractual and performance requirements.
  • Oversee development and support implementation of project plans for site layout, mobilization, and demobilization.
  • Verify that all applicable project permits are secured according to project requirements.
  • Direct and oversee downstream request-for-proposal and bid processes, including bidder development, prequalification, evaluation, award recommendation, and selection.
  • Prepare detailed scopes of work for subcontractor and client contractor contracts.
  • Review, approve, communicate, and present project budgets, cash-flow forecasts, and project status reports to project, program, and executive management.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to establish development and distribution of engineering deliverables according to project schedules and requirements.
  • Develop processes and manage downstream contract administration, including requests for information, submittals, change management, contract closeout, documentation, and claims mitigation.
  • Oversee prime contract, subcontractor, and client contractor invoicing processes.
  • Coordinate and facilitate client, supplier, and company commissioning and startup teams as needed.
  • Implement, audit, and oversee project documentation.
  • Implement processes for confirming project and subcontractor insurance, taxes and duties, licensures, and bonding requirements.
  • Perform project safety, quality, progress, and financial audits and assessments as required.
  • Oversee and participate in project-specific non-conformance reporting.
  • Facilitate project cost reporting, scheduling, work breakdown structure establishment, project setup and closeout, and field progress tracking for construction-related and program-level activities.
  • Develop and oversee materials receiving and management processes, including inventory control, receipt of goods, storage, and transportation.
  • Review contract documents with field staff to verify subcontractor and client contractor compliance with safety, health, quality, and schedule requirements.
  • Direct project turnover documentation, warranty administration, project closeout, and recordkeeping and retention processes.
  • Support communication with governmental, industry, and public entities on project-related matters.
  • Review construction field reports.
  • Provide mentorship and training to interns, construction coordinators, craft supervision, and assistant construction project managers.
  • Provide performance feedback for each project team member as requested to their respective department managers.
  • Manage community and building-trades relationships.
  • Develop and implement project labor agreements with building trades as required.
  • Onboard craft and field supervision as required.
  • Manage composite crew rates to determine labor and equipment costs.
  • Manage staffing on projects.
  • Manage labor burdens, including craft classifications, benefits, and labor laws.
  • Maintain accurate craft classifications and craft progression records.
  • Uphold craft competency and training standards.
  • Estimate, forecast, and manage craft installation unit rates.
  • Manage earned value, schedule, change management, and cost metrics.
  • Mentor and foster craft training and identify advancement opportunities.
  • Manage construction equipment to ensure adequate inventory to complete projects.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures and perform other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with document control, scheduling, cost control, and project management software.
  • Multiple years of experience on construction project sites or executing program management in aviation, commercial, energy, government, manufacturing, oil and gas, process, transportation, transmission and distribution, or water industries.
