Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree, preferably in biological science or medical technology, and one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
  • Demonstrated expertise in immunophenotyping and flow cytometry, documented through a portfolio of previous work.
Responsibilities
  • Assist a flow cytometry facility and potentially supervise laboratory personnel.
  • Provide cell-sorting services to researchers, including sorting potentially biohazardous samples.
  • Perform routine instrument maintenance, including troubleshooting and repair of electronics, fluids, lasers, and computer components.
  • Establish and maintain a program authorizing independent researchers to use instruments.
  • Develop basic and advanced flow cytometry training programs.
  • Serve as a technical and scientific resource for consulting services, including experimental design, sample preparation, and protocol development for users from immunology, oncology, biochemistry, hematology, and pathology.
  • Interface with equipment field service engineers and ensure compliance with relevant maintenance contracts.
  • Assist with budgets, prepare billing statements, and balance accounts.
  • Support grant applications by assisting with data presentation and facility descriptions.
  • Maintain the core laboratory website, including recharge rates, online scheduling, scientific protocols, and links to related websites.
  • Perform other responsibilities as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working in a flow cytometry core is highly desired.
  • A basic understanding of flow cytometry is required.
