Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; college education is preferred.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in revenue cycle collections is required.
  • Knowledge of Current Procedural Terminology, International Classification of Diseases 9th and 10th revisions, and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System codes.
  • Knowledge of government payers and commercial or managed care carrier rules and processes in a professional billing environment.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems and document outcomes accurately.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask and recognize trends to effectively work accounts receivable.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to learn new tasks and apply acquired knowledge to future duties.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and accountability are necessary for client results.
  • Strong office and typing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
Responsibilities
  • Resolve current denial and correspondence tasks within 72 hours of receipt.
  • Resolve unpaid claims that are more than 60 days from the date of service.
  • Review previously worked claims at least every 30 days.
  • Document daily accounts and claims worked on the Productivity Board.
  • Work 64 to 80 accounts daily.
  • Perform collection follow-up with insurance carriers and patients regarding open or delinquent accounts receivable.
  • Resolve insurance carrier denials and appeal claims.
  • Contact carriers regarding open accounts.
  • Respond to insurance carrier correspondence and inquiries.
  • Conduct research and client contact.
  • Participate in employee training and work with multiple practice management systems.
