Pursuing a B.S. Degree focused on analytics, computer science, data science, applied mathematics or statistics
Strong applied analytics - you love data, gleaning insights from data, and making decisions based on data
Expert level SQL and Databricks skills
Experience with R, Python (Pandas) and other programming languages and APIs (REST)
You are a data visualization wizard and can make beautiful Tableau dashboards
Pursuing an M.S. Degree focused on analytics, computer science, or data science
1+ years of experience working as a data scientist or data engineer
Can work cross-functionally, particularly with engineering, product and growth teams
Experience in IoT and familiarity with hardware metrics
Familiarity with ZenDesk data
Working knowledge of natural language processing
Automation skill set. (AWS, Lambda, Linux, Selenium etc.)

Responsibilities

Quantitative Analysis: you have experience extracting, manipulating, and analyzing large data sets using SQL (or graphQL) and understand basic statistics; experience with advanced visualization tools is a plus (Tableau)
Automation:Develop analytical frameworks through automation to proactively monitor data reporting solutions
Dashboard and Reporting: Develop and maintain complex Tableau dashboards, aggregating data from multiple data sources
Data Support: Write SQL queries and build tables in Databricks for other team members to analyze
Partnerships: Collaborate with internal teams (Sales Engineering, HW Engineering, Product Management, Technical Support) and customers to prioritize opportunities for product improvement and drive corrective and preventative actions

About the role:

We are looking for a Data Analytics Engineer: Co-op to join our Global Technical Support organization from July 2022 through December 2022. In this role, you will be focused on solving mission critical post-sales issues across all Samsara hardware products. The Data Analytics Engineer will own and lead projects from end-to-end. You’ll dive into complex datasets to analyze trends, identify field failures and build automation to proactively alert the support team of a spike in failures.

This role is dynamic in that you will be responsible for collecting, scoping, implementing and extracting learnings from various data sources (IoT hardware data, Zendesk, manufacturing data). It requires an ultimate guerilla data scientist that’s capable of doing everything from building dashboards to ETL processes.
