Responsibilities
  • Develops and implements an employer outreach plan that meets the needs of students. Identifies and contacts employers to expand the number of employers and to increase employment opportunities for students in master’s programs, especially international students, particularly within the Dept of Engineering and Public Policy and at the CIT level. Expand relationships with current employers by identifying talent needs of the employer.
  • Manages and oversees Employer Recruitment, Relationships, Development, and External Relations to expand the number of on-campus employers and to increase employment opportunities for EPP. Duties include meeting with employers both on and off campus to increase employment opportunities and educational opportunities for EPP students. Travel across U.S. as needed to attend meetings, events, companies, etc. Provides domestic and international employer development, corporate outreach, and full-time employment prospects for all students at the Carnegie Mellon campuses.
  • Develops and implements relevant programming that meets graduate students’ career needs to include resume preparation, mock interviews, job fairs, workshops and collaborations with faculty and alumni to foster successful career development of students.
  • Take lead responsibility for managing the development and execution of student orientation programs, workshops, and other events to support students.
  • Developing programs to increase external engagement with CIT that will not only support the mission of Career Services but also others, e.g., Tepper School of Business, Heinz College, and Silicon Valley (SV) campus. Coordinated cross university initiative on careers in Product Management and Innovation. Planning further engagement with CMU SV and working with external consulting teams to create partnerships with new entities, e.g., corporations, federal agencies and organizations.
  • Provides career services and serves as the primary career coach to master’s students on professional development, internship, and job search preparation. Identifies and creates career-related materials and resources of particular interest to graduate and international students. Crafts and implements an engagement strategy that involves the graduate students in the career process prior to their arrival on campus and delivers comprehensive career and professional development program. Plans and manages events surrounding career placement activities.
  • Provides career development counseling and advising to college graduate students. Duties include advises students and alumni on career-related issues, teaches job search skills, organizes, creates, and leads workshops and career-related activities and events. Counsels’ students individually and in groups to prepare them for a successful job search and assists with finding full-time employment. Provides advice and assistance for internships and coordinates internship programs. Prepares and presents workshops on job-related activities, organizes events, and maintains detailed, confidential student records, and alumni records.
  • Engage in tracking and reporting student employment outcomes following the Career Services and Employer Alliance’s Standards. Use data to highlight outcomes, trends and make informed recommendations and decisions.
  • Manages data collection for internal dashboards and communicate w/ XXX data team, manages internal and external employer data reporting; develops reports for stakeholders, develops report card/productivity reports for senior leadership, Creates and execute planning sessions for staff on positioning students for success, e.g., soft skills workshops, alumni panels, corporate events, etc.
  • Identifying partnership opportunities with corporations to provide internships and Capstone projects for our students.
  • Represent the program/department/university at conferences across the country to increase student enrollment and company contacts.
  • Coordinates counseling and interview preparation to assist students securing a required summer internship for curriculum requirement. Leads and initiates alternative outcomes to those students who cannot not secure an internship, e.g., “research” projects within companies.
  • Identifying and influencing companies with various needs to be a part of the Capstone Sponsorship teams. Working with Executive Director, build, develop and maintain a robust pool of companies to engage. Assist in aligning prospective projects with course requirements.
  • Designs, schedules and executes campaigns for recruiting, job opportunities, job fairs, career events, alumni engagements, corporate events, etc. via social media, and emails, event notices.
  • Manages the ETIM LinkedIn program page, ETIM LinkedIn group, alumni newsletter, Blog posts, all of which contribute to our marketing and recruiting efforts.
  • Enhances working partnerships with outside companies with social media campaigns, along with creating new MS program videos to attract new applicants.
  • Supports, prepares and presents at information sessions for ETIM and EPP MS programs.
  • Active alumni relationship management via self-created data base which serves multiple functions: hiring students, potential sponsorship of Capstone projects, summer / research internships, inviting speakers to CMU events, company recruiting events, and career panel discussions. Also used to explicitly track First Destination Outcomes for our MS programs.
  • Key member of ETIM admissions committee which defines criteria of acceptance and uses this standard for student selection. Occasional inter-face with prospective students to address questions regarding career tracks.
  • Works directly with Executive Director and the Admissions team to recruit and retain prospective ETIM and EPP students. Manages Fall Visitation and Spring Admitted Student Week events for the two MS’s programs.
  • On an as-needed basis, leveraged personal network to identify adjunct faculty for courses.
  • Participation in interview process for new ETIM faculty hires.
