OVERVIEW

Full-time/Permanent Employee Location: Los Angeles, CA or Colorado Springs, CO

As a Cloud Engineer VI, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-based and on-premises systems for secure and scalable environments. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop a DoD SAP Digital Engineering Ecosystem, ensuring a multi-level security, hybrid cloud-based architecture. Your expertise in Kubernetes, cloud automation, and DevOps methodologies will drive cloud migration, data security, and deployment strategies. In this role, you will support the agile team, automate cloud environments, and manage applications within Kubernetes clusters. You will also work closely with the cloud architecture team to ensure seamless cloud adoption while maintaining compliance with security best practices.

The proposed salary range for this position is $161,500-$225,000. There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, geographic location, education, and certifications. RESPONSIBILTIES

Administer, develop, configure, and maintain Kubernetes-based cloud and on-premises systems
Architect and deploy hybrid cloud solutions with a focus on multi-level security for DoD SAP environments
Support and automate cloud environments, improving efficiency through scripting and configuration management tools
Manage and optimize applications running in Kubernetes clusters across cloud and hybrid environments
Propose and implement cloud-agnostic service adoption through design, training, and system monitoring
Work with the cloud architecture team to drive cloud migration, data security, and deployment strategies
Ensure IT infrastructure compliance with DoD security directives (DOD 8570 IAT I/II)
Design and implement secure, scalable on-prem and cloud networking solutions while managing routers, switches, and security appliances
Develop automation scripts (PowerShell, Python, Bash) to streamline IT operations
Create and maintain documentation for infrastructure, configurations, and operational workflows
Transfer knowledge through documentation and training for the software development organization
Work on unusually complex technical problems and provide highly innovative solutions
Determine and pursue courses of action necessary to achieve cloud infrastructure objectives
Identify opportunities for automation and develop scalable solutions that enhance cloud infrastructure efficiency

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

Clearance: Active TS/SCI
Education and Years of Experience: Master’s Degree with 15+ years of experience. No less than five (5) total years of experience in a SAP and/or SCI environment, with at least one (1) year of that total being within the past 5 years.

Active DoD Directive 8570 IAT I or II certification (Security+ or equivalent)
Deep experience managing applications within a Kubernetes cluster
Extensive knowledge of Linux systems, specifically CentOS/RHEL/Rocky
Strong experience in cloud automation and configuration management
Ability to work with the cloud architecture team to support cloud migration, data security, and deployment strategies
Proficiency in IT infrastructure tools, processes, and practices, including cloud resource provisioning, deployment, microservices, and DevOps methodologies

PREFERRED ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Experience designing and managing secure hybrid cloud architectures for DoD or enterprise environments
Familiarity with DoD SAP requirements and multi-level security cloud implementations
Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to improve operational workflows
Excellent communication and documentation skills, with experience in training teams on cloud-based best practices
