Job Description:

As a Software Engineer at Pitney Bowes, you will be responsible for advancing our Shipping API services applied to expedited shipping, supporting Fortune 500 clients and a global footprint. Your success in designing and developing cloud-based offerings will be instrumental in advancing our position as a leader in the eCommerce space.

You will:

• Design and develop cloud-based scalable, extensible, reliable, and maintainable API platform that enables rapid deployment of new solutions
• Use a Java-based technology stack to build RESTful APIs that expose our core and critical business functionality
• Work with cross-functional teams to design and develop innovative solutions meeting the needs of our internal and external customers
• Evaluate and incorporate new technologies into new and existing frameworks and platforms
• Build components that can be used across product development organizations
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for API-related issues
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the functionality and performance of our Shipping API solutions
• Collaborate with and mentor members of the global team

You have:

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in developing large-scale, mission-critical, high-availability applications, with a preference for candidates having 5 or more years of experience
• Design skills that are critical to working with the distributed engineering teams
• Demonstrable hands-on experience with a full Java technology stack: Spring/Spring Boot and J2EE
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL database technologies
• Experience with AWS or Azure cloud
• Experience with cloud-native technologies such as Kubernetes (EKS [AWS] /AKS)
• Hands-on experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka and/or AWS SNS/SQS
• The ability to work with architects to reduce conceptual architectures to Enterprise Integration and to communicate and document solutions to the development team
• Well-versed with microservice architecture
• Demonstrable experience in using process management tools like JIRA, CA Agile Central (formerly Rally)
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse and distributed product teams in an agile environment
• Worked in a setting promoting cross-functional collaboration and advocating for Agile & DevOps culture within a large organization
• The ability to work with geographically dispersed offshore teams
• Experience with GIT repositories and build management as part of continuous integration
• Exposure to Golang and Python
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or a related field preferred
