Requirements
  • Previous experience in a clinical or Health Science laboratory environment is advantageous.
  • Understanding of new and emerging science-based laboratory technologies.
  • Knowledge of Work Health and Safety legislation, including risk management.
  • Ability to work autonomously with general supervision and as part of a team.
  • Ability to take initiative in problem solving, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and organisational skills, with willingness to work flexibly including shift work.
  • Completed tertiary qualification in Science, Chemistry, Biology, or Health Science, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience or education and training.
  • A current Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and satisfactory Gender Based Violence Declaration are required before appointment.
  • A current Working with Children Check satisfactory to the University must be maintained.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with health science technical functions, including laboratory activities, to support College programs.
  • Prepare laboratory environments for Health Sciences and Clinical Skills practicals in accordance with university course requirements.
  • Maintain equipment and manage stock control.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies.
  • Step in for the Team Leader when required.
  • Train staff on simulation equipment.
  • Resolve information technology and audiovisual issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of simulation software, licences, and equipment updates.
  • Assist with Work Health and Safety in teaching spaces, including Standard Work Procedures, Risk Assessments, and Workplace Inspection records.
  • Manage equipment, biological specimens, hazardous chemicals such as CHEMWATCH, and dangerous goods.
  • Work a variety of rostered shifts during intensives, including 7:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m., 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., and 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
