Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, computer engineering, or a related scientific discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
  • For grade L07, a minimum of two years of relevant experience is required.
  • For grade L08, a minimum of five years of relevant experience is required.
  • Relevant work experience or college coursework in software engineering, including design, coding, configuration control, and maintenance, will be considered for experience.
  • The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network.
  • Current U.S. citizenship is required.
  • The candidate must be able to wear personal protective equipment in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain data acquisition, data processing, data mining, and data storage systems developed and maintained at the AMSC.
  • Develop system requirements and design configurable and modifiable systems that interface with existing and future hardware and software.
  • Design, develop, and maintain software and systems to meet system requirements.
  • Perform software testing and verification.
  • Support software configuration management practices to ensure system integrity.
  • Apply system security to meet Federal Information Assurance requirements.
  • Support the preparation of engineering studies and reports.
  • Use modern design, development, testing, and configuration management tools for software systems.
  • Assist in system and application deployment, installation, maintenance, and support.
  • Work as a member of an integrated team in an aerospace ground test environment.
  • Work occasional scheduled extended hours or weekends and occasional unscheduled night or weekend support during emergencies.
Desired Qualifications
  • A B.S. degree or post-graduate coursework in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban, and concepts such as sprints.
  • Experience programming real-time applications.
  • Experience or academic coursework in graphical user interface development.
  • Experience or academic coursework creating software design documentation, including Unified Modeling Language diagrams such as class, sequence, or use-case diagrams.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification or a higher-level security certification.
  • Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts.
  • Knowledge of major industry or regulatory standards and design criteria relevant to the Instrumentation, Data, and Controls software engineering discipline.
  • An active Department of Defense security clearance.
