Requirements
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in English, journalism, communications, history, or political science.
  • At least six years of experience.
  • An active Secret clearance.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare speeches of up to 60 minutes for United States Strategic Command senior leadership, including researching the event and determining background information on the location, attendees, and event focus.
  • Provide an abstract, outline, and background information for senior leader review and comment.
  • Interview the senior leader to obtain direction for the speech before the event.
  • Prepare and draft articles for publication in local, national, including federal, or international periodicals such as professional journals, newspapers, magazines, or newsletters.
  • Prepare five- to ten-minute remarks, talking points, and toasts for United States Strategic Command senior leadership.
  • Maintain an indexed archive of written speeches, articles, remarks, talking points, toasts, abstracts, and reference material, and coordinate their public release with United States Strategic Command Public Affairs Office staff.
Desired Qualifications
  • Ten years of demonstrated senior-level speechwriting experience with elected officials, corporate leaders, General or Flag officers, or appointed national leaders.
