Requirements
  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 2 to 4 years of professional software development experience.
  • Proficiency using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude) as part of daily development, with disciplined review and validation of generated code.
  • Strong object-oriented programming in C++, including modern C++ practices and proficiency with the C++ Standard Library (STL).
  • Solid software engineering fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and design patterns.
  • Strong programming, debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of CAD/CAM concepts, computational geometry, or geometric modelling, or equivalent experience building geometry-heavy or mathematically intensive software.
  • Experience with source control and project management tools such as Git and Jira.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Responsibilities
  • AI-assisted development: Use AI-assisted tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude) for planning, implementation, refactoring, debugging, test generation, and documentation, always validating output for correctness, security, performance, and maintainability.
  • Apply AI effectively in troubleshooting and code review; know when AI accelerates work and when deeper manual analysis is required.
  • Share effective AI-assisted workflows with teammates and help raise team standards for responsible use.
  • Object-oriented software engineering: Design and implement scalable, maintainable features using object-oriented C++: clear abstractions, encapsulation, inheritance, and sound use of design patterns.
  • Write, test, review, and maintain high-quality code across the full software development lifecycle.
  • Take ownership of features or components from design and implementation through deployment and support.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects, performance bottlenecks, and production issues.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications and implementation details.
  • CAD domain: Develop and optimise production-grade capabilities across CAD (parametric modelling, geometry, design workflows).
  • Apply computational geometry and geometric modelling principles to robust, performance-sensitive desktop software.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Experience Design, and Quality Assurance to deliver customer-facing Fusion capabilities.
  • Collaboration & delivery: Work effectively within distributed global teams; participate actively in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, estimation, stand-ups, retrospectives).
  • Expand technical breadth across adjacent domains and technologies while deepening expertise in core team areas.
  • Contribute to a culture of collaboration, code quality, and continuous learning.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience developing CAD and/or CAM desktop applications (Fusion or similar products).
  • Hands-on experience with computational geometry, geometric modelling, or computer graphics.
  • Cross-platform application development (Windows, macOS, Linux).
  • Experience designing and developing APIs and SDKs.
  • Familiarity with Qt, CMake, and Python.

What believers are saying

  • Q2 FY27 revenue rose 16% to $2.05 billion, with 27.4% free-cash-flow margin.
  • May 28, 2026 guidance rose again, showing pricing power despite sales reorganization.
  • MaintainX targets a $40 billion operations market, expanding Autodesk’s cross-sell surface immediately.

What critics are saying

  • January 22, 2026 layoffs cut 7% of staff, disrupting sales execution through FY2027.
  • The August 2026 MaintainX integration adds debt, dilution, and margin pressure before payback.
  • Ninth Circuit securities appeal over free cash flow and margins threatens credibility and fundraising.

What makes Autodesk unique

  • AutoCAD, Revit, and Fusion anchor Autodesk’s entrenched workflow standard across AEC and manufacturing.
  • Subscription switching costs stay high; firms embed Autodesk files, templates, and training for years.
  • MaintainX adds operations data, extending Autodesk from design into asset lifecycle management.

Berenberg keeps buy rating on Autodesk despite AI headwinds, cuts target to $333

Berenberg has reiterated a Buy rating on Autodesk, trimming its price target to $333 from $335. The decision follows Autodesk's strong second-quarter results, with revenues rising 16% year-over-year to $2.05 billion. Profitability improved notably, with non-GAAP operating margin reaching 41% and earnings per share of $3.30 exceeding expectations. Free cash flow grew 24% to $561 million. However, concerns remain. Whilst revenue grew 16%, billings increased only 10%, potentially indicating slower future demand. Autodesk faces mounting competition from AI-native design tools and cloud-based engineering platforms. Hedge fund holdings dropped to 51 in the second quarter from 67 in the first quarter, though major holders Arrowstreet Capital and AQR Capital Management increased their stakes.

Autodesk slides 5% as $3.6B MaintainX deal weighs on Q3 profit despite 27% cash margin

Autodesk shares fell over 5% in after-hours trading to $259.39 after the design software company issued soft third-quarter adjusted profit guidance. The decline came as costs from its MaintainX financing and operations began to impact margins. Despite the guidance, Autodesk's quarterly results showed strength. Revenue rose 16% to $2.046 billion, whilst operating cash flow climbed 25% to $575 million. Free cash flow reached $561 million, delivering a 27.4% margin. The stock now trades 25.63% below its estimated fair value of $348.77, reflecting investor scepticism. Autodesk must demonstrate that its $3.6 billion MaintainX acquisition can expand its platform faster than acquisition costs and AI competition can erode it.

Autodesk reports $2.05B Q2 revenue, up 16% YoY, raises full-year guidance after MaintainX acquisition

Autodesk reported second quarter fiscal 2027 revenue of $2.05 billion, up 16% year over year and 14% on a constant currency basis. The design software company raised its full-year billings and revenue guidance to reflect higher underlying growth and contributions from its MaintainX acquisition. Chief executive Andrew Anagnost said artificial intelligence "turns connected data and context into actionable project intelligence" to help customers address capacity constraints. He emphasised Autodesk's position in combining design, manufacturing, and operations data. Chief financial officer Janesh Moorjani said the company's sales reorganisation is proceeding as expected. Full-year non-GAAP margin guidance remains unchanged, with operating leverage benefits offset by MaintainX-related dilution. The acquisition includes approximately $45 million in transaction expenses. Revenue grew across all geographic regions, with EMEA up 19% and Americas and APAC each up 14%.

Autodesk shares fall 23% as $235 stock yields 5.4% cash despite major acquisition and sales reorganisation risks

Autodesk shares have fallen 23% over the past year, whilst the S&P 500 climbed. The software firm now trades at $234.97, generating 5.4% in annual free cash for every dollar invested — above the S&P 500's 4.2% median. The company reported an 18.3% revenue increase over the past year, more than double the market median of 7.8%. Its GAAP operating margin stood at 27%, significantly above the S&P 500 median of 18.4%. The market's caution stems from execution risks. Autodesk is simultaneously integrating MaintainX, its largest-ever acquisition, whilst undergoing a major sales reorganisation. Analysts report partner disruption from the internal changes, with management acknowledging expected weakness in new business performance.
