Requirements
  • A current active California registered nurse license is required.
  • An Associate of Science degree in Nursing is required.
  • Three years of oncology nursing experience are required.
Responsibilities
  • Enhance the patient experience by providing a seamless navigation process from abnormal finding or diagnosis through the cancer continuum.
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to triage, coordinate, and consistently manage patient care.
  • Educate patients and serve as a point of contact for patients and families.
  • Answer patient and family questions, provide emotional support, and resolve barriers, needs, or issues related to the cancer care cycle.
  • Assess patients’ current and future needs, provide access to internal and external resources, facilitate distress screenings and patient needs assessments, and make appropriate referrals.
  • Maintain close collaboration with physicians and the cancer care team to ensure patient care and coordination using oncology nursing knowledge, experience, and expertise.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary conferences and provide patient follow-up as needed.
  • Provide patient education and symptom management support.
  • Participate in community health promotion and awareness programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Oncology Certified Nurse certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer standards is preferred.
  • Bilingual ability in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Prior experience planning, organizing, and completing individual treatment plans is preferred.
  • Prior experience implementing professional and community-based education programs is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, electronic health records, and related database programs is preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, Current Procedural Terminology coding, anatomy, histology, hematology, and cancer-related diagnostic procedures is preferred.
  • Ability to solve problems, make decisions, and apply critical thinking; strong organizational, written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills are preferred.
  • Ability to work in a self-directed environment and effectively handle multiple priorities is preferred.
