Requirements
  • Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and 8 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in job offered or in a Software Engineering-related occupation.
  • Proficiency in developing back-end code using programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, or PHP to support package and product development, including extending software capabilities.
  • Experience in designing and implementing Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to enable interaction between software components, including those used in graphical user interface (GUI) development across various platforms.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use database software and systems to maintain, modify, and output structured data, including web-based applications and enterprise information systems.
  • Understanding of systems integration processes, including the combination of independently developed components or subsystems and resolution of interaction issues to ensure cohesive functionality.
  • Expertise in data structures, including data organization, management, and storage formats that support efficient access and modification, as well as the relationships and operations applicable to the data.
  • Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language, such as Java, C#, or C++, for application and service development.
  • Experience in building and deploying scalable, high-quality web applications and modern services.
  • Familiarity with modern development technologies, such as Angular, React, Kubernetes, and Docker.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Quality Assurance, DevOps, and Agile/Scrum teams, to support software development lifecycle activities.
Responsibilities
  • Design code and systems that impact 40% of the global population, shaping Visa’s internal standards for scalability, security, and reusability.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to produce design artifacts and develop best-in-class software solutions across multiple Visa technical offerings.
  • Contribute to product quality improvements, value-added service technologies, and new business flows within diverse agile environments.
  • Develop robust, scalable products for a wide range of customers, including end-user merchants, B2B, and business-to-government solutions.
  • Leverage innovative technologies to build the next generation of Payment Services, Transaction Platforms, Real-Time Payments, and Buy Now Pay Later solutions.
  • Enhance and modify existing software, ensuring code aligns with design specifications and adheres to security best practices.
  • Propose and implement automation to improve system and tool efficiency, identifying high-impact opportunities for investment.
  • Engage with product engineering teams and product owners, leading code/design reviews, hosting regular meetings, and participating in on-call rotations and incident responses throughout development and operations cycles.
  • Apply back-end technical expertise and telemetry analysis to recommend scalable improvements in code, processes, and design, with a focus on customer and business objectives.
