Requirements
  • Pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or demonstrating exceptional skill in software engineering.
  • Having strong programming skills in Rust and Go or TypeScript, along with a strong desire to learn.
  • Having a solid understanding of systems fundamentals, including memory, performance, and concurrency.
  • Having experience building non-trivial software projects from scratch in a personal, academic, or professional context.
  • Having interest in one or more of the following areas: databases, visualization, or data processing pipelines.
  • Providing a portfolio, which can be a GitHub portfolio, as part of the application.
  • Being able to serve in compliance with United States export controls.
Responsibilities
  • Developing frontend and backend data-driven applications to run the fab.
  • Building software for sequencing and controlling fab operations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Having experience with interactive software such as Figma, Blender, computer-aided design tools, KiCad, or scientific computing environments.
  • Being familiar with schema evolution, database migrations, or serialization formats such as Protocol Buffers.
  • Understanding collaborative or distributed systems, including Conflict-free Replicated Data Types, Operational Transformation, and WebSockets.
  • Having exposure to advanced 2D/3D visualization, simulation, or novel user interfaces.

Fab2 is building a compact semiconductor fabrication facility to produce chips for smartphones, computers, and other electronics. The facility runs semiconductor manufacturing, using in-house tools and processes to create smaller, more efficient chips with advanced geometries. The business sells manufactured chips to tech companies and may offer fabrication services to others, providing both product sales and contract manufacturing. What sets Fab2 apart from larger, traditional fabs is its focus on agility: a smaller footprint, faster ramp, and the ability to adapt quickly to new processes and geometries.
