Frontend Software Engineer @ Tailscale

Description

We’re seeking a skilled and diligent full-time Software Engineer to join our growing team. You will work as part of the engineering team to:

Develop the Tailscale product, contributing to client code and related services.
Bring a special focus on front-end engineering both for web properties and for client applications running on user devices. Expertise with multiple front-end ecosystems (listed below) is a strong plus, but if you primarily specialize in only one of these we’d still encourage you to apply.

Because we’re an early-stage and fully remote company, we’re looking for a strongly motivated individual who can help move the product forward. The ability to think on your feet, collaborate with highly technical teams, and comfort working asynchronously are essential.

Skillsets of interest

Web front-end development in React and Typescript, with a strong grasp of HTML/CSS fundamentals
Experience with one or more applications front-end ecosystems

Windows using Win32
macOS and iOS using Swift
Android using Java or Kotlin

Working with UX Researchers, Product Managers, and Designers to define the user experience.

Additionally:

Ability to give and process constructive feedback, as well as work independently
Flexibility to adjust to the dynamic nature of a startup
Most of the non-front-end portions of the system are developed in the Go programming language. Experience with Go is a plus.

With the team, you’ll succeed with these sorts of goals

Work as part of a team of engineers and designers to add features in the Tailscale service
Take a holistic view of the product, from customer needs to client applications to the admin console
