Responsibilities
  • This role is responsible for supervising others and includes responsibilities consistent with supervising employees, including but not limited to monitoring daily work activities, tracking and approving timesheets including approving time off, monitoring performance including entering goals, progress check-ins, and weekly or bi-weekly check-ins, documenting performance concerns, entering staff promotions, transitions, and separations in HRIS within required time frame.
  • Serve as team lead in coordinating responsibilities, daily tasks, and regular monthly duties of housing specialists
  • Develop and maintain efficient systems for ensuring tasks are completed in a timely manner, including but not limited to paying rent and communicating with US-based family members
  • Ensure team’s maintenance of accurate, up-to-date records and documentation, including documenting services to clients
  • Coordinate closely with R&P Pre-Arrival Supervisor in scheduling apartment set-ups
  • Assist as necessary in coordinating with US-based relatives when securing housing for incoming refugee cases within the initial Reception and Placement program
  • Conduct ongoing outreach to develop, build, and maintain relationships with property owners, private market landlords, and property management companies
  • Coordinate hotel bookings for clients waiting on permanent housing and oversee accurate record-keeping and financial tracking of clients in hotels
  • Negotiate lease terms with landlords, when required, and assist newly arrived refugee cases to apply for housing and to understand and sign lease and/or housing agreement
  • Ensure housing meets federal and local housing standards, including completing site visit and evaluation of each unit
  • Research fair market housing rates and trends and identify rental properties and apartments through online research, phone calls, community connections, and in-the-field research
  • Interpret and apply housing codes and standards, landlord regulations, and program guidelines
  • Assist with housing-related case management tasks or other housing support, as needed
