At AoPS, we believe that students learn best by working through challenging problems that present opportunities to develop problem-solving and critical reasoning skills through productive struggle and creative thinking. Our goal is for students to build a deep conceptual understanding of mathematics and science by grappling with why they work.
As a Science Curriculum Intern at our sunny San Diego headquarters, you’ll get to collaborate with and be mentored by our team of experienced scientists and educators. Together you will work to build engaging content for motivated elementary school students, create resources which support our classroom teachers, and explore career paths within AoPS.
You might be a good fit for this position if...
- You’ve built a passion for science through teaching/tutoring or doing science and are eager to share this with motivated students.
- You have a strong and broad science background and enjoy solving difficult problems, as well as communicating about science.
- You’re considering a career in curriculum development and want to spend your summer doing meaningful work.
- You’re excited to help build the curriculum you wish you had as a kid and want to learn more about AoPS innovative programs, curriculum, and approach.
Some of the projects our former Math & Science Curriculum Interns have worked on include:
- Designing fun math activities for our AoPS Academy classes.

About AoPS:
Art of Problem Solving (AoPS) is on a mission to discover, inspire, and train the great problem solvers of the next generation. Since 2003, we have trained hundreds of thousands of the country’s top students, including nearly all the members of the US International Math Olympiad team, through our online school, in-person academies, textbooks, and online learning systems. While our primary focus has been math for most of our history, through the years we have expanded our unique problem solving curriculum into more subjects, such as language arts, science, and computer science.
