Requirements
  • Experience of working with young people who have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences
  • An understanding of the concepts and principles of attachment & trauma responsive care
  • Must be able to see beyond presenting behaviours whilst being able to display empathy, compassion and hope for young people
  • Understand that this is a demanding and, at times, very tough job. A high level of composure and resilience is required
  • Must have an HNC in Social Care and SVQ 3, or be willing to work toward these qualifications and register with SSSC within 3 months of start date
  • Ability to organise and participate in leisure and recreational activities
Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality care and support to children in a residential setting
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individual care plans
  • Promote a safe, nurturing, and positive environment for all children
  • Support children in their daily routines, including education, activities, and personal development
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation as required
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external agencies to meet children's needs
  • Uphold safeguarding procedures and ensure the well-being of all children
  • Uphold the principals of the Promise Scotland
  • Undertake physical tasks (for example cleaning and cooking) that promote a homely environment
  • Participate in various activities with children in the house and community
Desired Qualifications
  • PVG scheme membership and Disclosure Scotland checks
  • SSSC registration within 6 months
  • Experience of safeguarding services and working with looked after children
  • Experience of working with children and young people who have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences
  • Experience of working in residential care settings
  • SVQ 3 or HNC in Social Care or equivalent qualification
  • First Aid at Work or Paediatric First Aid
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, families, and external agencies
