Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in finance, health economics, or a related analytical field is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in pharmaceutical pricing, market access, revenue management, financial analytics, or related functions is required.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry is required, with a strong preference for management consulting, global or regional market access, or corporate strategy.
  • A demonstrated track record of building, working with, and leading teams in a cross-functional, matrix environment is required.
  • Proven consulting skills are required, including the ability to understand stakeholder priorities, manage complex relationships, and influence without authority.
  • The candidate must be a strategic thinker capable of designing and implementing a long-term vision, comfortable with ambiguity, and adaptable in a fluid environment.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the single point of accountability and primary strategic partner within Global Pricing Operations for Pharma pricing operations, analytics, and capability needs across launch, inline, and lifecycle priorities.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with Global Market Access strategy leads, senior Pharma franchise leaders, regional pricing and access teams, finance and forecasting partners, and digital capability teams.
  • Identify strategic business questions and challenges from stakeholders and translate them into defined analytical projects and capability enhancement roadmaps.
  • Lead the generation of data-driven insights and strategic recommendations and deliver presentations to senior leadership to inform execution and decision-making.
  • Serve as the Global Pricing Operations Pharma pricing and access operations expert, maintaining knowledge of Pharma portfolio dynamics, launch sequencing, lifecycle pricing, market access pressures, and international pricing implications.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Associate Directors focused on analysis and capability development.
  • Manage team resources, oversee project pipelines, and ensure analytical outputs meet standards of quality, rigor, and strategic value.
  • Foster a consulting excellence culture focused on curiosity, client service, strategic thinking, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide strategic direction for complex Pharma pricing analyses, including International Reference Pricing modeling, launch sequencing, lifecycle price erosion, gross-to-net and access pathway considerations, pricing governance, scenario planning, and portfolio-level analytical support.
  • Guide partnership with Digital Human Health and Digital Product Owners to align pricing platform and decision-support capability development with the strategic needs of the Pharma Practice Area.
  • Champion data governance and data quality to maintain a reliable foundation for analytics and decision support.
  • Ensure alignment with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies and adhere to high standards of ethics and integrity.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree or international equivalent from an accredited university is preferred, including an MBA, Master of Public Health, or Master of Science in finance, health economics, or a related analytical field.
  • Direct people management experience is preferred.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills are preferred, including the ability to distill complex analytical topics into clear, concise, and actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Subject matter expertise in Pharma pricing, access strategy, international pricing, launch sequencing, lifecycle management, or portfolio-level decision support is preferred.
  • Experience with pricing, tender, or revenue management systems and business intelligence or online analytical processing tools such as NGP, Cognos, or TM1 is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a country or subsidiary role within a Pharma or Life Sciences company is preferred.

Musk backs mRNA potential as Moderna and Merck trial shows cancer vaccine breakthrough

Elon Musk said mRNA technology has "tremendous promise for curing diseases" despite what he termed its "obvious misuse during Covid". The Tesla chief executive officer suggested artificial RNA essentially makes curing diseases a software problem. Musk's comments came as Moderna and Merck announced positive Phase 3 results for an individualised mRNA cancer vaccine. The treatment showed significant improvement in recurrence-free and metastasis-free survival in melanoma patients when combined with Merck's Keytruda. This marks the first successful late-stage trial of its kind. Musk has previously promoted artificial intelligence as a path to transforming healthcare. In June, he said advances in synthetic RNA could potentially "cure almost anything".

Merck takes $3.8M stake in AI vaccine developer Evaxion after licensing bacterial candidate

Merck & Company disclosed holding 1,214,126 shares of AI immunology firm Evaxion A/S in a regulatory filing on 10 August. Evaxion shares rose 2% to $3.17 following the announcement. Merck dips 0.5% after 12.6% surge on positive cancer-vaccine trial results

Merck shares dipped approximately 0.5% to $151.39 on Thursday following a 12.6% surge the previous day, reaching a record close. The pharmaceutical company's stock jumped after positive results from a Phase 3 trial testing a personalized melanoma vaccine developed with Moderna. The 1,137-patient study met its primary endpoints for recurrence-free survival and distant-metastasis-free survival. The trial compared Keytruda alone against Keytruda plus intismeran in patients with surgically removed high-risk melanoma, with no new safety concerns identified. Merck and Moderna are also testing the vaccine platform in lung, bladder, kidney, pancreatic and stomach cancers. Merck surges 12.6% as personalised cancer vaccine beats standard melanoma treatment

Merck melanoma vaccine trial beats expectations, but RBC downgrades stock over $30B Keytruda patent cliff
