Requirements
  • Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.
  • Demonstrated interest in mechanical design, vehicle systems, product development, testing, or research and development.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities
  • Support the design and development of vehicle components, systems, and assemblies.
  • Create component and vehicle layouts using CATIA, CREO, or other computer-aided design software.
  • Select components based on performance, quality, weight, cost, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Perform engineering calculations such as weight distribution, stress analysis, and performance estimations.
  • Support prototype, pilot, and production builds and provide technical assistance on the assembly floor.
  • Perform or assist with vehicle, system, and component testing.
  • Analyze test results, field data, and warranty information to identify trends and potential failure modes.
  • Support failure analysis, root-cause investigation, and development of corrective actions.
  • Develop and apply mathematical or reliability models to support engineering decisions.
  • Establish test requirements and develop test plans for vehicles, systems, and components.
  • Identify equipment, resources, fixtures, and test apparatus needed to execute testing.
  • Support the design and development of fixtures and test equipment.
  • Coordinate and monitor testing, including data collection, analysis, and documentation.
  • Evaluate test results and develop technical recommendations.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, customers, manufacturing teams, and other engineering disciplines to solve technical challenges.
  • Communicate project status, test results, findings, and recommendations to engineering teams and project stakeholders.

Eight Wisconsin companies feature on the 2026 Fortune 500 list, with only WEC Energy Group climbing in rank. The Milwaukee-based energy company rose 27 spots to 424th, reporting $9.8 billion in revenue, a 14% increase from the previous year. Northwestern Mutual maintained its position at 109th with $43.7 billion in revenue, remaining the highest-ranked Wisconsin company. The other six Wisconsin representatives—Fiserv, American Family Insurance Group, ManpowerGroup, Kohl's, Oshkosh Corp., and Rockwell Automation—all dropped in rankings from 2025. The same eight Wisconsin companies have represented the state on the Fortune 500 for several consecutive years.
