Requirements
  • Have held technical responsibility for delivery of large (5+ people, > 1 year) modelling, simulation, or operational research projects including artificial intelligence (e.g. reinforcement learning, generative AI, large language models) or optimisation.
  • Have demonstrable experience designing appropriate technical solutions and delivery approaches to deliver projects integrating artificial intelligence into decision-support tools, through problem definition, technical development, verification & validation and deployment.
  • Have experience leading engagements with senior stakeholders, identifying beneficial use cases for AI, supporting clients’ investment cases, and integrating solutions into clients’ systems and processes.
  • Are experienced at developing service offerings to clients and writing winning proposals.
  • Due to the nature of the work, candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment screening and must be able to satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting.
Responsibilities
  • Join the modelling team to work on projects applying the mission engineering approach to integrate systems engineering, modelling, data science, and subject matter expertise.
  • Support clients with services including operational modelling, simulation & optimisation; novel concept research and development and assessment; RF and EW physics modelling; operational research and analysis; decision optimisation under uncertainty; developing AI decision-making systems; decision science and decision support tools.
  • Collaborate with experts in requirements, systems engineering, software development, and operational experience on projects.
  • Contribute to recent projects such as research & development of multi-agent reinforcement learning agents for agent-based model simulations; development of LLM-based tools for natural language interactions with simulation outputs; proof-of-concept studies integrating AI with naval defence systems; evaluation of AI use cases for training systems; building AI tools for data extraction and quantitative insights from regional energy plans; developing renewable energy spatial planning optimisation methods.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience building integrated modelling systems MCP and LAMs to create more powerful analysis and decision-making tools.
  • Experience building fast-running surrogate models to improve the speed of analysis and decision-making, balancing accuracy with speed.
  • Experience deploying AI into operation, including integration with live data systems.
  • Depth of knowledge in one of Frazer-Nash’s market sectors or key clients.
  • Contributed to an organisation’s continuous improvement, mentoring, knowledge sharing and thought leadership.
