Requirements
  • A medical degree or doctoral degree and life science research experience are required.
  • At least one year of previous experience in cancer biology, pharmacology, bioinformatics, and cancer genomics is required.
  • Candidates must have research experience in wet-lab experimental projects, including protein biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology, and mouse models of disease.
  • Candidates must have a proven track record of peer-reviewed publications in respected journals.
  • Candidates must have the technical aptitude to learn and execute complex experimental techniques for molecular biology, cell-based assays, single-cell assays, and rodent procedures.
  • Candidates must maintain impeccable experimental documentation and organized records.
  • Candidates must be able to work independently and in a team environment in a fast-paced laboratory under significant pressure and with tight deadlines.
  • A doctorate degree, specifically a PhD, is required.
  • Candidates must have the ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Candidates must have technical proficiency with office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
  • Candidates must have strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Independently perform bench work involving protein biochemistry, DNA and RNA sequencing, single-cell RNA and ATAC sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, and mammalian cell culture and cell-based assays of tumor cell growth and response to therapeutic agents.
  • Conduct mouse surgeries and monitor animal health following intracranial tumor procedures.
  • Evaluate and interpret collected data and prepare reports and analyses describing progress, adverse trends, and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.
  • Review scientific literature to follow new developments and obtain information about previous experiments to aid in designing and developing original procedures and techniques.
  • Independently write and submit postdoctoral fellowship grants with appropriate mentorship.
  • Communicate scientific results to colleagues, mentors, and the broader scientific community.
  • Contribute to basic and applied research activities and author scientific publications, technical and agency reports, and patent preparations.
  • Collaborate with senior staff to publish findings in refereed journals.
  • Create and conduct experiments and analyze results.
  • Work with other researchers to use and develop end products.
  • Write extramural proposals with approval from appropriate senior staff.
  • Provide ready access to all experimental data for managing staff.
  • Request or acquire equipment and supplies for assigned projects.
  • Use the internet, surveys, legal documents, and other available sources to collect information.
  • Apply for grants and prepare materials for submission to granting agencies and foundations.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
