Requirements
  • A college or university degree in a related field is required.
  • Knowledge and skills developed through 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline are required.
  • Excellent coaching, organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills, including strong public speaking and presentation skills, are required.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Director in managing the Law School’s judicial clerkship and internship programs, including strategic planning, program development, and collaboration with judges, faculty, staff, alumni, students, and others.
  • Plan and deliver career counseling, individual coaching and advising, outreach, programming, and support for students and alumni applying for judicial clerkships and judicial internships.
  • Track and analyze data and support reporting on judicial clerkship applications, interviews, hiring, and experiences.
  • Partner with the Director to prepare agendas, materials, and reports for the Faculty Clerkship Committee and other data requests.
  • Create and update judicial resources and communications across platforms, including the Job Search Guide, clerkship web pages, and Symplicity.
  • Develop alumni and other job contacts for students and conduct environmental scanning to identify market trends and job possibilities for students and alumni.
  • Pursue involvement and education through the National Association of Colleges and Employers, including membership in its Judicial Clerkship Section, and represent the Office of Career Services to internal and external audiences.
  • Contribute to the work and goals of the Office of Career Services by providing career counseling, advising, coaching, and programming services for Juris Doctor and Master of Laws students.
  • Maintain records to support comprehensive services to students and alumni and fulfill internal and external reporting obligations.
  • Conduct job search and career management lectures, hands-on workshops, special events, training programs, and one-on-one career coaching sessions.
  • Direct students to other career resources as needed.
  • Analyze markets and trends related to job searches.
  • Assess student feedback and evaluations and collaborate with career services staff, student organizations, and other staff to determine program offerings and innovations.
  • Perform other related work as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • A post-baccalaureate degree, preferably a Juris Doctor or master’s degree.
  • At least two years of career or recruitment services experience with law students, lawyers, and others in the legal profession.
  • Experience as a federal judicial law clerk.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with OSCAR.
