Rural King, a national retail brand specializing in farm equipment, home goods, and outdoor needs, will invest $42 million to establish a new distribution facility projected to create 150 new jobs. Three Roots Capital, Hampton Roads Ventures, and Regions Bank worked together to provide $40 million of New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) financing. The Commonwealth of Virginia provided a $750,000 grant from the Commonwealth's Opportunity Fund. "Three Roots Capital is proud to participate in this $42M effort working with Rural King, Regions Bank, Hampton Roads Ventures, and the Commonwealth to provide funding for essential job creation and economic impact in Southwest Virginia. A project of this magnitude can be transformative for a rural community," said Grady Vanderhoofven, President and CEO, Three Roots Capital. "This project exemplifies how the NMTC Program helps attract private investment to economically distressed communities to create quality jobs and further economic growth," said Jennifer Donohue, CEO, Hampton Roads Ventures. "Workforce development and business growth are the economic engines that drive our communities," said Jimmy Abbott, commercial banking relationship manager with Regions Bank. "This project advances both by creating quality jobs and supporting local growth. Through Regions' New Markets Tax Credit program, we're proud to invest in Henry County and the people behind its success." Three Roots Capital's NMTC investment strategy prioritizes job-creating manufacturing projects in underserved areas of the Appalachia and Delta regions. Rural King's project in Martinsville aligned with these priorities and more, creating quality jobs and providing essential commercial goods in a rural area. "We're excited to expand our distribution network with this new facility in Henry County and deepen our commitment to serving customers across the region," said Rural King Vice President of Human Resources Amy Shafer. "This investment reflects Rural King's continued growth and our dedication to creating meaningful career opportunities in the communities we serve. Henry County offers a strong workforce and welcoming business environment, making it an ideal partner for this next phase of our expansion.
