Requirements
  • A minimum of 10 years of related quality experience in production manufacturing is required.
  • ASQ membership and CMQ/OE are preferred; CQE, CQA, or CWI is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing under ASME Y14.5 and blueprint reading is required.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance regulatory requirements and corrective action methodologies is required.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 is required; familiarity with AS9100 and/or IATF 16949 is beneficial.
  • Fluency in AIAG core tools, including APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, MSA, and SPC, is required.
  • Knowledge of PSW, Dimensional Reports, Material Performance Test Results, MSA, AAR, SDS, IMDS, CDX, and customer approval processes is required.
  • Familiarity with CQI-12 coating and CQI-15 welding special process audits and structured problem solving using 8D and 5 Why is required.
  • Knowledge of welding inspection is required.
  • Knowledge of sample and master retention protocols and qualified laboratory documentation, including A2LA and ISO 17025, is required.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, are required.
  • QMS internal auditor training is required; lead auditor certification is preferred.
  • Experience with metal stamping, fabrication, welding, assembly, and powder coat processes is preferred.
  • The position requires regular production-floor presence and the ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, climb, and occasionally lift up to 35 pounds.
  • The position requires close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, along with the ability to adjust focus.
  • The position involves exposure to fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, moving mechanical parts, industrial equipment, vibration, and loud noise; appropriate personal protective equipment is required.
  • The position requires primarily local business-day travel, with occasional out-of-area or overnight travel for customer engagements, supplier visits, and audit support.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the lead organizational contact for customer quality concerns; investigate complaints and lead root cause and corrective action using 8D, 5 Why, and continuous-improvement methodologies.
  • Coordinate customer source inspections and drive corrective actions to eliminate root causes of nonconformance.
  • Manage customer complaint response timelines and ensure on-time closure of corrective actions.
  • Represent the company with customer quality representatives and auditors.
  • Own and report quality KPIs, including PPM, COPQ, scrap rate, first-pass yield, and on-time PPAP submission.
  • Support the established QMS and drive continuous improvement of quality processes in alignment with ISO 9001.
  • Support the internal audit program by conducting audits, training auditors, and driving corrective-action follow-up.
  • Provide inputs to Management Review and apply risk-based thinking in day-to-day quality decisions.
  • Manage controlled documents pertaining to quality submissions and follow established document-control procedures.
  • Manage the calibration program, including gage control, recall, and measurement-equipment qualification.
  • Oversee nonconforming-material control and MRB disposition decisions.
  • Lead APQP phase gates and launch readiness; develop and maintain PFMEAs covering severity, occurrence, detection, and AP.
  • Own Control Plans linked to PFMEA outputs and drive floor-level inspection and process monitoring.
  • Oversee PPAP and First Article submissions through Levels 1–5, including PSW packages.
  • Apply MSA, including Gage R&R, bias, linearity, and stability, and SPC, including Cpk/Ppk, to drive process control.
  • Apply AWS compliance requirements and manage WPS, PQR, and WPQ documentation; coordinate visual, dye-penetrant, and magnetic-particle inspection and CWI activities.
  • Oversee torque verification and tool calibration, error-proofing, sub-assembly traceability, and functional-test protocols.
  • Conduct special-process audits in accordance with applicable CQI standards.
  • Own the incoming-inspection program, supplier scorecards, PPM tracking, and supplier corrective action; oversee outsourced process control.
  • Review and evaluate inspection holding fixtures, component parts, and assembly inspection fixtures; direct laser-scanning programs using PolyWorks.
  • Work with manufacturing teams to adjust fixtures and processes to improve part quality.
  • Coach quality team members; lead and develop Quality Engineers, Inspectors, and Auditors; hire, train, and conduct performance management.
  • Train employees in QMS, quality control, RCCA, inspection, and fixturing methodology.
