Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, or three years of experience in a food service capacity.
  • At least one year in a supervisory position, or equivalent experience as a food service supervisor in a healthcare facility in consultation with a dietitian, or equivalent military food service supervision and management experience.
  • Current ServSafe certification is required.
  • Current CPR and Basic First Aid certification are required.
  • Any other licenses or certifications required by the state.
  • Proficiency in food preparation, regulatory compliance, and sanitation of kitchen and dining areas.
  • Proficiency in building revenue and managing budgets, including food, beverage, and labor cost controls.
  • Knowledge of efficient operations, appropriate cost controls, and profit management.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective client and customer relationships.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve all meals.
  • Manage the food service production and delivery system, including purchasing and inventory of food and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with food quality, nutrition, and productivity standards.
  • Train, manage, and supervise food service staff.
  • Direct food service budget expenditures and ensure operations remain within established budgetary guidelines.
  • Assign, direct, and supervise food service workers.
  • Assist with hiring, transferring, promoting, demoting, or dismissing food service workers.
  • Follow proper receiving, storage, and preparation techniques to maintain food quality until consumption.
  • Plan, implement, and review breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in the kitchen.
  • Prepare local, state, and accreditation reports as directed or required.
  • Implement strategies to create an atmosphere that attracts and retains customers.
  • Implement required safety procedures.
  • Lead, mentor, engage, and develop teams through recruiting, assessment, training, coaching, and performance management.
  • Work with the facility leadership team to support facility success.
