Varex Imaging passes tariffs to customers, builds India factories, targets cargo system orders

Varex Imaging executives outlined the company's tariff mitigation efforts, India expansion and growth initiatives during a recent conference. CFO Sam Maheshwari said the firm has successfully passed IEEPA-related tariff increases to customers, though inventory delays mean a recent Supreme Court ruling lowering rates will take four to six months to benefit the profit and loss statement. The company is building two India manufacturing facilities. A detector production plant is complete and shipping, whilst a radiographic tube facility should finish by year-end, with meaningful revenue targeted around 2027. On the industrial side, Varex booked $55 million in fiscal 2025 for new cargo inspection systems. The company is also developing photon-counting detectors for medical applications, expected to launch in early 2027, offering dose reduction and higher-priced component opportunities.
