View

The Jackson Laboratory focuses on biomedical research using laboratory mice to explore the genetic and genomic factors behind human diseases. It operates a comprehensive database called the Mouse Genome Informatics (MGI) resource, which provides essential genetic, genomic, and biological data to researchers globally. This database supports various clients, including academic institutions and pharmaceutical companies, in their efforts to improve human health. Unlike many competitors, JAX is a nonprofit organization that generates revenue through grants, donations, and the sale of specialized services, such as genetically engineered mice and genomic data analysis. JAX also emphasizes education by offering online courses and workshops to train future scientists and healthcare professionals. The goal of The Jackson Laboratory is to advance understanding and treatment of diseases like cancer, diabetes, and neurological disorders through innovative research and collaboration.
