Requirements
  • Applicants must have experience as a Lead Housekeeper; applicants without Lead Housekeeping experience will not be reviewed.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of healthcare cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements, proper and safe chemical use, equipment handling, and labor-saving products.
  • Adhere to organization safety, risk management, infection control, cleaning, disinfection, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precaution, and personal protective equipment procedures.
  • Recognize and adhere to patient privacy requirements under HIPAA.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of facility safety requirements.
  • Demonstrate the ability to operate and properly maintain all environmental services tools and equipment needed to clean and disinfect the environment.
  • Complete the required physical examination, tuberculosis test, blood-draw antibody checks, COVID-19 vaccination, and flu shot upon hire.
Responsibilities
  • Assign tasks, ensure tasks are completed to standards, inspect work, and ensure work rules and procedures are followed.
  • Train new team members, provide support and guidance to associates, motivate team members, and monitor team performance.
  • Perform cleaning and disinfecting in exam rooms, patient care areas, laboratories, nurses’ stations, equipment, common areas, and other assigned areas.
  • Perform quality improvement initiatives under the direction of the Environmental Services Manager.
  • Adhere to safety, risk management, and infection control guidelines while promoting a safety culture.
  • Participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives, including initiatives to improve patient experience and cleanliness metrics.
  • Maintain cleaning carts, supplies, and equipment by properly stocking and restocking carts and keeping them neat and organized.
  • Remove waste and transport it to the appropriate disposal area while identifying proper handling for regulated medical, recyclable, solid, and hazardous waste streams.
  • Maintain furniture, furnishings, and interior finishes using appropriate cleaning principles, chemicals, equipment, and labor practices.
  • Provide oversight of inventories, usage data, consumable supply ordering, and equipment repairs.
  • Perform on-site training for new Environmental Services associates.
  • Practice critical thinking and personal accountability.
  • Identify and use appropriate resources to ensure identified problems or concerns are followed through and resolved.
  • Perform specialty tasks as needed, including conference room setup and dismantling, stairwell and elevator cleaning, and hanging cubicle curtains.
