Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required
  • Registered ARRT is required or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist RCIS is required within 18 months of hire or Registered Respiratory Therapist with CV specific certification or RCIS or RCES, required
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) and ACLS, required
  • Surgery Technician License must be obtained within 3 months from hire date in the state of practice
  • Associates degree, preferred
  • Two (2) years of experience in Cardiology/Cath Lab, preferred
Responsibilities
  • Provides technical support during invasive cardiovascular procedures.
  • Provides patient care under the supervision of the physician.
  • Assists physicians in radiological imaging of cardiac and vascular procedures, acts as scrub assistant, maintaining sterile conditions during clinical procedures.
  • Operates imaging equipment and works in the control room monitoring and documenting procedure images and events.
  • Educates patients and families regarding the procedure and about the expectations of the procedure.
  • Teaches patient and family about pre and post procedure physical conditions.
  • Assists in maintaining order and cleanliness of the unit.
  • Maintains appropriate stock levels for complex interventions and diagnostic procedures.
  • Completes daily, progress and discharge documentation according to departmental standards.
  • Accurately documents productivity information.
  • Participates in quality and patient safety initiatives.
  • Identifies potential areas for improvement including processes that could be streamlined or revised to improve patient satisfaction.
  • Identifies potential safety hazards that may create problems for patients and/or staff, and takes appropriate actions.
