Requirements
  • Possess an appropriate degree in a related field.
  • Have knowledge of and industry experience in a related discipline area.
  • Have technical ability or willingness to learn and understand the hardware and software.
  • Have a flexible and adaptable approach to work, with the ability to prioritize, organize, and manage workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Have the right to work in the United Kingdom and live within commuting distance of the Leeds campus.
  • Be able to work evenings and weekends when required.
  • Obtain a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service disclosure if selected.
Responsibilities
  • Offer front-line technical support and advice to students across academic disciplines and learning environments.
  • Prepare and maintain classrooms and studios for lessons, ensuring a clean and professional environment.
  • Oversee and facilitate student-directed study in timetabled sessions.
  • Support open events, trips, and showcases on campus and at external locations, including configuring, transporting, and setting up equipment.
  • Deliver demonstrations, tutorials, and practical assessments, supporting students during sessions.
  • Demonstrate the safe and effective use of equipment and software in classroom and live environments, troubleshooting and resolving issues.
  • Ensure appropriate student behaviour and studio usage on campus and during practical sessions.
  • Participate in team meetings and share feedback on student progress, including concerns.
  • Facilitate student studio bookings, equipment collection and returns, and monitor attendance at practical sessions.
  • Maintain records of equipment loans to students.
  • Operate and maintain specialist facilities, including studios, edit suites, and technical equipment.
  • Take responsibility for equipment and resources, resolving and reporting faults immediately.
  • Open and lock up the campus and building as required.
  • Act as a fire marshal and appointed first aider.
  • Assess and monitor health and safety issues appropriately.
  • Monitor consumable stock levels and raise orders.
  • Manage and maintain asset registers and databases, tracking, organizing, and distributing equipment and resources.
  • Attend SAE events as required and support periods of absence or workload peaks and troughs.
  • Carry out duties and tasks on time and as directed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Audio engineering or film production experience.
  • Experience teaching or training practical skills in related topic areas.
  • Experience with Project-Based Learning, Flipped Classroom, and other contemporary forms of facilitating learning.
  • Experience using technology in learning, including Virtual Learning Environments.
