Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Engineering or Master’s degree in Aerospace, Systems, Electrical/RF, or Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Six to ten years of experience in requirements-based testing or verification for complex aerospace or satellite ground communication systems.
  • Proficiency in project management, configuration control, production and systems quality control, non-conformance management, and systems engineering verification protocols.
  • The ability to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods program.
  • Availability for Canadian and international travel.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate work between the Constellation System Verification team, Ground Infrastructure teams, and functional groups for the Telesat Lightspeed Low Earth Orbit constellation.
  • Lead the transition from system development to system deployment by coordinating system readiness planning across segment teams, particularly Ground Infrastructure teams.
  • Support development of pre-production and production environments, including transitions between environments, for ground infrastructure verification and deployment.
  • Develop and maintain verification strategies, verification matrices, test philosophies, and procedures.
  • Participate in hardware and software reviews, including PDR, CDR, TRR, TRB, and DRB, and coordinate the Constellation System Verification-led System Readiness Review.
  • Synchronize Ground Infrastructure deployment tasks across segment teams to ensure hardware, software, and documentation are ready for satellite deployment.
  • Partner with engineering and cross-functional teams to validate system performance and coordinate communication across Ground Segment teams and network operations interfaces.
  • Ensure Ground systems meet Lightspeed readiness and early mission objectives through timely completion of verification tasks.
  • Identify key issues, develop solutions, and drive them through consultation efficiently and effectively.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience deploying ground system infrastructure for satellite telecommunication systems, including site commissioning and Over-the-Air testing.
  • Experience with satellite telecommunication integration and test activities using electrical and radio frequency test systems focused on L, Ku, and Ka bands.
  • Experience designing and developing User Terminal and Landing Station antenna systems.
  • Familiarity with Satellite and Network Operations Systems, including NOC and SOC.
  • Project or Program Management Professional experience managing complex technical systems and organizing multidisciplinary technical teams.

Telesat secures $1.7B Arctic satellite contract for Lightspeed network

Telesat's subsidiary has secured a C$2.3 billion, 15-year Arctic connectivity contract under Canada's Enhanced Satellite Communications Project. The agreement will fund 69 Lightspeed satellites.
