- A technical background in nondestructive testing methods and procedures, including ultrasonic testing, ultrasonic phased array, phased array ultrasonic testing, computed radiography, or digital radiography, with five years of experience is required.
- Current nondestructive testing certifications in the listed methods are required.
- Candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform assigned nondestructive testing tasks and interpret inspection results effectively.
- Knowledge of nondestructive testing equipment is required.
- Extensive knowledge of American Society of Mechanical Engineers and American Petroleum Institute requirements and procedures for evaluating applicable equipment for continued serviceability is required.
- Knowledge of industry health and safety policies and procedures is required.

- Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities using nondestructive testing methods.
- Establish examination techniques for objects under inspection while adhering to safety regulations.
- Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results.
- Identify, track, manage, and mitigate risk on specific client engagements and escalate issues when necessary to minimize impacts to quality, budget, and timeline.
- Review asset documentation and operational data, including inspection data, monitoring, and auditing associated with nondestructive examination activities.
- Complete integrity assessments, including physical site walkdowns when required.
- Prepare project reports describing work performed, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Perform specialized inspections.
- Develop techniques for approval by customer certifying agents.
- Instruct and supervise others as needed.
- Some college is preferred.
- Supervisory experience is a plus.

Researchers have developed a new navigation method that lets drones fly using sound instead of vision, enabling operations in smoke, darkness, fog, or dust-filled environments where cameras and LiDAR struggle. The system is similar to echolocation, with the drone emitting acoustic signals and interpreting the echoes to understand surroundings and avoid obstacles. The approach could open new possibilities for search and rescue, industrial inspections, and disaster response in environments that are currently too challenging for traditional drone sensors. The inspection starts while the stack is still active, with a DJI Matrice 350 RTK capturing high-level visual details on the stack. * Step 2. Next, the Voliro T performs close-contact ultrasonic thickness (UT) measurements on external surfaces, again while the stack is active. * Step 3. Finally, the Elios 2 collects visual data of hard-to-reach interior and congested areas. (This step happens at a future time, when the flare stack is down during a planned outage). The project highlights a growing trend in industrial inspections: using multiple purpose-built drones in a coordinated workflow to achieve complete coverage. It also points to a larger development, which is that drones are now so commonplace for inspections that unique workflows are being developed that help leverage them to their full potential.
Acuren Corporation, soon to be rebranded as TIC Solutions, Inc., announced a $250 million private placement of its securities to an existing investor. The deal involves selling approximately 20.8 million shares at $12.00 each and is expected to close by October 7, 2025. Jefferies LLC acted as the sole placement agent. The proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes. The securities are not registered under the Securities Act and will require a registration statement for resale.
