Requirements
  • A Pharm.D. or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy with equivalent experience is required.
  • Three years of pharmacist experience are required.
  • Pharmacist licensure in the State of Oregon is required at the start of the position.
  • Proficiency in an area of clinical pharmacy practice is required.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Contemporary practice of pharmacy knowledge is required.
  • Ability to perform the job duties with or without accommodation is required.
Responsibilities
  • Execute all job duties outlined in the pharmacist position description.
  • Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule, and supervise assigned staff; develop performance standards and conduct performance reviews in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Develop programs, initiatives, facilities, and systems for continuous departmental improvement.
  • Develop and monitor dashboards and quality metrics related to pharmacy department and service-area goals.
  • Participate in developing and implementing the Department of Pharmacy's strategic plan in alignment with OHSU Health's mission, vision, and values.
  • Develop policies, procedures, and treatment guidelines, and improve electronic health record functionality as needed to enhance patient care.
  • Establish best practices in assigned service areas to improve patient care outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities for value analysis and resolve unsafe conditions and inefficient work processes.
  • Assist in managing drug shortages and high-cost medications by providing clinical expertise related to utilization and alternative therapies.
  • Facilitate patient care services by collaborating with pharmacy department staff and other healthcare team members across OHSU Health.
  • Work with external agencies to facilitate continuity of care.
  • Oversee the education and training of pharmacy residents, interns, and students.
  • Direct the work of students and residents and monitor and evaluate their performance.
  • Participate in education and research related to assigned service areas.
  • Staff assigned service areas as a clinical role model to maintain content expertise, approximately 40% of the time.
  • Serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge for specific pharmacy operations when applicable.
  • Rotate on-call responsibilities approximately every sixth week or staff approximately every sixth weekend.
Desired Qualifications
  • Work history demonstrating involvement in leadership projects.
  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals or presentations at state or national pharmacy conferences.
  • Two years of precepting and lecturing experience or an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education-accredited teaching certificate.
  • Board certification or fellowship in an area of clinical pharmacy practice.
