JPMorgan forecasts humanoid robot boom in US manufacturing as costs drop below $10/hour

JPMorgan predicts surging demand for humanoid robots in US manufacturing as operating costs fall below $10 per hour, significantly undercutting the roughly $30 hourly cost of warehouse workers, according to MarketWatch. The bank expects robots to fill substantial job openings in the sector. The forecast comes as the Federal Communications Commission blocked new imports of foreign-made humanoid robots on national security grounds, targeting China's 85% market share. Chinese firms Unitree and AGIBOT each shipped over 5,000 units in 2025, whilst American competitors Tesla and Figure AI shipped only hundreds. Unitree went public on Shanghai's STAR Market this month, raising approximately 6.1 billion yuan (£700 million). Its stock closed 460% above IPO price, valuing the company at roughly $50 billion. Global humanoid robot shipments totalled approximately 15,000 units in 2025.

JPMorgan climbs 0.9% as $21.2B quarterly profit powers Dow gains

JPMorgan Chase shares rose approximately 0.9% to $354.84 on Monday as financial stocks drove the Dow higher whilst technology shares declined. Lower long-term Treasury yields eased pressure on bond portfolios and borrowing conditions. The bank's second-quarter results showed strong performance across divisions. Net income reached $21.2 billion on $58 billion of managed revenue. Markets revenue surged 35% to $12.1 billion, driven by an 86% jump in equity-markets revenue to $6 billion. Net interest income increased 10% to $25.6 billion. Despite robust earnings, the stock trades 12.98% above its $314.07 estimated fair value and near 15 times earnings, suggesting limited upside potential.

Bond Street REIT expands credit facility to $300M with KeyBank, BMO and Santander joining syndicate

Bond Street Investment Trust has increased its revolving credit facility by $200 million, bringing total commitments to $300 million. JPMorgan Chase led the expansion as administrative agent and sole bookrunner, with BMO Capital Markets and KeyBanc Capital Markets serving as joint lead arrangers. KeyBank National Association, BMO Bank and Banco Santander joined the facility, expanding the bank group to five institutions. The upsize utilises the accordion feature of Bond Street's credit agreement, which permits commitments up to $600 million. Since securing a $300 million equity commitment from Conversant Capital in August 2025, the Charleston-based REIT has acquired 17 centres, expanding its portfolio to nearly 1,000,000 square feet. The firm has entered Phoenix, Dallas and Midwestern markets whilst maintaining its Southeast presence.

JPMorgan unit to argue India regulatory breach was technical.

JPMorgan unit to argue India regulatory breach was technical. Read Time: 3 mins Image: Bloomberg News A JPMorgan Chase & Co. unit facing allegations of non-compliance from India's market regulator is likely to contend that the issue was technical in nature rather than manipulative, people familiar with the matter said. The subsidiary - called Copthall Mauritius Investment Ltd. - plans to seek clarifications but is unlikely to appeal the order for now, the people said, asking not to be named discussing information that isn't public. That would suggest an effort to take a more conciliatory approach towards Indian regulators, who have become increasingly proactive in reforming the market and haven't hesitated in penalizing foreign firms active in its $5.1 trillion stock market. SEBI's finding against the JPMorgan unit represents one of the first major actions over market manipulation involving a global firm since the regulator accused the Wall Street trading giant Jane Street Group of similar misconduct last year. The firm denied the charges and is pursuing an appeal in an Indian appellate court seeking access to additional documents. Last week, the regulator banned the JPMorgan Mauritius unit from its capital markets in the first enforcement action over alleged manipulation of the country's new closing auction for stock prices. The crackdown underscores the regulator's determination to ensure the success of the so-called Closing Auction System, one of the biggest reforms to India's stock market in recent years and part of an effort to align it with global standards. The system's rollout earlier this month has faced pushback from traders following unexplained spikes in stock benchmarks during closing sessions. Copthall is separate from JPMorgan India Pvt., which is registered with SEBI as a stock broker and merchant banker. The order against the Mauritian entity, therefore, does not directly impact JPMorgan's activities in India which are mostly conducted through its local unit. JPMorgan is also weighing launching an internal assessment to identify gaps in compliance, if any, the people said. A spokesperson for JPMorgan declined to comment. Copthall will seek additional information on an interim order from SEBI when they get a hearing to clarify allegations of market manipulation, the people said. The unit, which acts as a conduit for investments by JPMorgan's global clients in India, is registered as a foreign portfolio investor with SEBI. Last Wednesday, SEBI published an interim order against Copthall and a local brokerage Mansi Share and Stock Broking Ltd. In that, it alleged both firms executed manipulative trades during the closing auction window on Aug. 13 to influence the indicative equilibrium price of the BSE Sensex Index, benefiting their options positions on the benchmark. The regulator fined both entities 37 million rupees ($386,000) in what it termed were unlawful gains and banned them from accessing the capital market. The trading ban on Copthall and Mansi Share will be lifted once the entities pay back unlawful gains to the regulator, SEBI board member Kamlesh Chandra Varshney said in the order. He has sought a detailed examination of the trades which he said should be completed quickly and without being influenced by the findings of his order. Both entities have 21 days to respond to the allegations, including by seeking a personal hearing. (This story has not been edited by NDTV staff and is auto-generated from a syndicated feed.)
