Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Materials Science, or a related Physical Science or Engineering discipline, with 10 years of relevant experience; or a master's degree in Engineering, business, or a related Physical Science discipline, with 7 years of relevant experience; or a PhD in Materials Science, or a related Physical Science or Engineering discipline, with 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to perform detail-oriented tasks using written and verbal communication, intermediate mathematics, and computer skills.
  • Proficiency in job-related software, computer programs, applications, and databases.
  • Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings.
  • Understanding of manufacturing and quality techniques and thorough knowledge of mechanical inspection techniques.
  • Skills with Quality Management Systems, Quality Engineering, and project management.
  • Detailed understanding of machining processes and associated manufacturing technologies.
  • Ability to work effectively with people from different cultures and backgrounds.
  • Ability to work any and all shifts or days as required.
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and implement quality systems and processes.
  • Create and manage documentation and supporting drawings using accepted quality engineering principles and techniques.
  • Introduce new ideas and solutions to expand the company's quality portfolio and improve profitability.
  • Advise teams and factories as a subject matter expert to resolve process upsets and drive new process implementation.
  • Represent the company with customers on technical matters across multiple markets and product offerings.
  • Mentor early- and mid-career quality engineers through one-on-one interactions, lectures, seminars, and classes.
  • Evaluate external quality technologies and advise senior management on quality engineering, business processes, quality business systems, and key customer quality relationships.
  • Advise management in creating quality roadmaps to capture new business opportunities and develop long-term global strategy.
  • Choose and execute exploratory projects to develop innovative solutions.
  • Apply accepted quality engineering principles and complete assigned tasks efficiently under minimal supervision.
  • Interpret customer and company technical drawings for sales and manufacturing departments to ensure products meet quality specifications, and suggest manufacturing process improvements.
  • Develop and maintain complete and accurate written records, including First Article Reports and process documentation, for new products, processes, and improvements.
  • Coordinate projects and quality engineering efforts across multiple product categories, processes, or sites.
  • Interact with customers and suppliers to clarify points, research materials, and investigate improvements to current and future processes.
  • Work with sales personnel and interact directly with customers during new product development, capability communication, and resolution of current production issues.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of quality engineering work for major or moderate-scope projects.
  • Perform Quality Management System design and development, structured problem solving, specification preparation, process studies, research investigations, report preparation, and related quality engineering activities.
  • Provide training and cross-training in structured problem solving, statistical process control, process control systems, equipment, software, and process operations.
  • Supervise lower-level engineers or technicians as a direct supervisor or within a defined project environment.
