Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A graduate of a Medical Assistant program or one year of experience in a clinical setting is required.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of the hire date.
  • One year of healthcare experience is preferred.
  • The employee must be able to perform medium work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly.
  • The employee must be able to bend, stoop, reach, and stand and walk for an 8-12 hour shift.
  • The employee must be able to work closely with others, work protracted or irregular hours, work around biohazards and infectious diseases, work with hands in water, and may be required to travel between facilities.
  • The employee must be able to use and care for equipment including printers, embossers, and computers.
  • The employee must be able to communicate effectively with staff and patients.
  • The employee must be able to work independently and in a team setting and organize and prioritize work.
Responsibilities
  • Greet and escort patients to exam rooms, prepare them for physician visits, and obtain initial information and vital signs.
  • Prepare exam rooms for patients by maintaining cleanliness and ensuring supplies are available.
  • Assist with or perform examinations, tests, and procedures.
  • Schedule appointments and establish referral contacts as needed.
  • Assist providers during patient examinations and procedures.
  • Educate patients about follow-up expectations.
  • Maintain required quality-control testing logs.
  • Ensure that medical equipment is in proper working condition.
  • Assist patients with completing medical documentation.
  • Perform office administrative tasks including answering phones, taking messages, copying, printing, data entry, assisting with cash deposits, and completing other closing duties.
