Salary Range: 91000 to 111000 (Currency: CAD) (Pay period: per-year-salary)
Job Purpose
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the daily activities of the maintenance department, including,
staff scheduling, corrective work order planning, and supervision, parts specification for critical repairs, coordination of the execution of preventative maintenance, subcontractor supervision, specify critical spares, and the generation of reports that indicate the departments’ performance. The supervisor also performs fail investigation for major breaks down and preparation of corrective plan to avoid recurrence. The role will foster a strong team dynamic and a spirit of cooperation. It will be necessary to have constructive liaisons with other departments to determine any repairs that need to be carried out. Then either assign the work to teams internally, or hire out the job to contractors, ensuring the work is completed promptly, safely, and on budget.
MUST HAVE: Red seal Millwright ticket.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Schedule and coordinate preventative and reactive maintenance on facility equipment to ensure that all equipment is operating at the highest possible levels of safety and efficiency.
- Scheduling of maintenance and engineering staff for optimum production coverage;
- Guarantee that all machines will be ready on time for daily production;
- Coordinating between shifts and acting as the central point of contact for mechanical/electrical and PM issues.
- Conduct inspections on facility equipment and in the facility, and report any hazards or potential hazards.
- Schedule assigned subcontractor(s) to support the department work plan including installation and/or maintenance assignments.
- Respond to all critical and/or safety-related maintenance concerns in a timely manner.
- Take a leading role in the implementation of CMMS.
- Document all work orders and all maintenance and repair activities in the maintenance management system
- Maintaining all plans, procedures, MOPs, SOPs, and all other documentation necessary for safety and proper performance of preventive maintenance activities.
- Providing support in all activities undertaken by the Maintenance Manager.
- Inspect sites regularly to identify problems and necessary maintenance
- Train workers
- Coordinate daily cleaning in the maintenance area.
- Comply with all health and safety regulations and practices on site
- Conduct follow-ups on all maintenance and repair work.
- Conduct safety inspections as scheduled.
- Establish strategies to meet workload demands on time
- Responsible for the performance of a team of Millwrights/Electricians/Mechanics/ Operating Engineers over multiple shifts in a large-scale facility to perform maintenance and repair on equipment and facilities systems.
- Establish and maintain a safety-first culture by promoting and driving safe work practices timely training, best practices as well as recognitions to promote safe behavior.
- Administer training to ensure compliance, readiness, and competency of staff
- Support the Manager in the implementation of short and long-term projects
- Improve the preventive maintenance plan.
- Develop and implement reliability plans that support increasing the uptime of the facility
- Drive maintenance Best Practices- Innovate, document, improve work methods, standardize, provide a safe work environment and require safe work practices, train, commission equipment, collect, measure, and analyze key performance indicators to improve processes and improve customers’ experience.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Required Skill, Experience, and Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of supervisor leadership in a food plant maintenance department with the ability to demonstrate a commitment to professional development is desirable
- Red seal Millwright ticket. Assists and directs workers in electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and utility systems maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment, including diagnosing malfunctions
- Hands-on, and troubleshooting skills.
- Previous Lean, Six Sigma, 5S experience
- Must have the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and handle a high volume of work with accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, as well as being a strong team player.
- Strong customer service orientation skills and a desire to achieve results.
- Able to work flexible shifts when business needs arise.
- Ability to build, lead and develop the Maintenance Team.
- Mechanically inclined and have the manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
- Experience with computerized Maintenance systems is an asset (CMMS /FIIX).
- Intermediate level of computer skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
