The Opportunity
Join the group of attorneys and paralegals who provide legal counsel to the product teams at Adobe that develop and market Adobe Acrobat. We are seeking a hardworking, positive, and high-energy senior lawyer to manage the legal team that supports Adobe Acrobat. You will work closely with product management, engineering, business strategy, and marketing teams, as well as colleagues in Legal, to provide counseling on a range of legal topics including innovative generative Ai technologies. You will report to the lead of the Document Cloud legal team and will help advance our clients’ business objectives while managing legal and brand/reputational risk.
What you’ll Do
- Support our Document Cloud product teams as they develop and bring to market new technologies, business strategies, and product offerings.
- Partner with senior leadership to support the release of generative Ai features.
- Build positive relationships with Adobe’s product development, marketing, and go-to-market teams.
- Advise multiple levels of management on legal issues
- Collaborate with subject matter leads in Adobe’s Legal Department, including patent, copyright, privacy, and litigation attorneys
- Draft, negotiate, and supervise a wide variety of agreements, including inbound and outbound technology licenses and partnership agreements
- Develop and deliver materials and trainings on legal topics to internal groups, including engineering, program management, and sales-legal
- Manage a team of one or more legal professionals; provide mentoring, leadership, and be a general resource for the entire Digital Media legal team
What you need to succeed
- J.D. from an accredited law school and necessary bar membership
- 10+ years of relevant legal experience (e.g., software licensing, advising clients in the cloud-based services industry, and supporting product development) and at least five years of in-house experience preferred
- 4+ years of experience managing legal professionals
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with all levels of business and legal professionals
- Expertise in privacy and data security issues (experience with privacy by design is strongly preferred)
- Technical background or a geek-level interest in software products and development
- Experience advising on generative Ai technologies and features preferred or a deep knowledge of the generative Ai landscape.
- Experience drafting and negotiating complex technology deals.
- A commitment to providing clients with high quality and timely legal advice, and flexibility to take on different types of product and services and related work
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with a great sense of humor and a growth mindset, and a commitment to professionalism
- Strong leadership abilities; capable of succinctly framing complex legal issues and communicating effectively

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $155,400 -- $301,100 annually. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process.
At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans. Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).
In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
