Requirements
  • Must be able to travel across the wider Fife area; a vehicle may be provided, but where you are required to use your own vehicle, travel expenses will be paid - 45 per mile to staff using their own car
  • Hold or be able to work towards SVQ 2 as required by Scottish Social Services Council within the time frames set at point of registration
  • You are required to register with Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 6 months of taking up employment in this role and to complete the required Post Registration Training and Learning (PRTL) over the first registration period
  • You will be provided with a uniform and a smartphone
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build effective working relationships with service users and their families
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Health and Social Care Standards and be able to put these into practice
  • Ability to support and enable service users to maximise their independence and remain living in their own homes
  • Caring, compassionate and motivated with good values and a genuine interest in providing quality care and support to service users
  • A positive, proactive, and flexible approach to work with a willingness to travel across the wider Fife area
  • A generous pension scheme and holiday entitlement of 24 days rising to 29 days after 5 years’ service (pro-rata)

Responsibilities
  • Provide care and support to service users in their own homes to maximise independence and enable them to remain living in their own homes
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with service users and their families to support planning and delivery of care and support
  • Work with other Council services and partner agencies to support the planning and delivery of care and support within the service
  • Attend service user homes to deliver care and support
  • Adopt good communication practices to ensure service users and families understand care plans and updates
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Social Care Standards in practice
  • Complete required records and documentation to reflect care provided and any changes in service user circumstances
  • Participate in induction and training opportunities to develop skills and knowledge for the role
  • Travel across the wider Fife area as required by rota and service needs
Desired Qualifications
  • SVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent
  • Experience of working in a care at home or social care setting
  • Experience of working with service users with dementia or other complex needs
  • Current PVG scheme membership or willingness to obtain PVG membership for role
  • Driving licence or willingness to obtain one
