Rollup will be used by engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders at companies large and small—from nimble startups to eventually even the largest of enterprises.

Role Overview
Our head of engineering is responsible for crafting, curating, and directing Rollup’s technical implementation and engineering team.
Rollup is seeking a head of engineering who is very experienced with shipping excellent, modern enterprise SAAS products.
This person will be solely accountable for Rollup’s technical implementation as well as for setting direction and standards for the team.
You’ll be joining a group of extremely talented, warm, and rigorous principal and staff engineers who have built an incredibly complex, performant system to date.

Work +Travel Requirements
Time commitment: Expected 60+ hours/week. Nominally 2 weeks of vacation per year.
Our head of engineering will be required to travel up to several weeks per year (12+) between the US West Coast, East Coast, and Europe.
You will be required to be up at odd hours morning and night to bridge time zones.
Role Requirements
Proven leadership experience in a senior engineering role, ideally in an Enterprise SAAS environment
Be willing to get your hands dirty

Communicate when needed from a document-first / architecture-first perspective
Strong knowledge of software development life cycles and modern software development practices
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Deep appreciation for shipping products with high standards including fast performance, excellent user experience, zero downtime, and cutting-edge capabilities
Deep appreciation for excellent, rigorous agile project management
Demonstrated ability to ship ambitious products on tight, predictable deadlines
Previous (extensive) Experience with:
Architecture diagramming
Cloud: AWS
Modern Full-stack web: NodeJS, Typescript, React, API Development, Unit & End-to-end Test Development, Websockets
Databases: Postgres, etc.
Version control: Git
Enterprise Compliance and Security: SOC2

Leadership: Oversee the engineering team, providing guidance, mentoring, and feedback to support their professional development. Create an environment that encourages technically ambitious thinking and risk-taking.
Talent Acquisition and Development: Play an active role in hiring processes to grow the team with high-caliber talent. Train new team members and foster their growth and development within the organization.
Strategic Planning with Product: Work closely with the executive team to set the strategic direction for product implementation. Ensure alignment between the engineering team’s efforts and our long-term product roadmap.
Technology Vision: Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends. Leverage this knowledge to drive the technological vision and architecture of our product.
Quality Assurance: Implement processes and best practices to ensure the delivery of high-quality code, including rigorous testing protocols and code reviews.
Security: Lead the development and implementation of robust security protocols, ensuring our software meets industry standards and safeguards our clients’ data.
Monitoring and Performance: Implement and oversee a comprehensive monitoring strategy to ensure our product’s consistent performance and reliability

The posted salary (low to high range) is the one we feel in good faith; we would pay for this role.
Ultimately, the final offered salary might exceed the posted range. We consider factors such as education, previous experience, skills, location, and our own needs in making compensation decisions.
