Project Leader

Pleasant Holidays is a subsidiary of the Automobile Club of Southern California, a diversified insurance, roadside assistance, financial services and travel organization serving AAA Members for more than 100 years.
Summary:
The Project Leader is responsible for overseeing all aspects of software development projects. They manage the various activities for a project including requirement analysis, design/architecture, development, and testing. This includes everything from creating detailed technical design deliverables to system test plans They may also be involved in creating debugging, analytical, and programming skills, as well as utilizing tools for project tracking. They will also network with professional teams, read documentation, manuals, periodicals, and other technical reports to stay informed of new development practices and strategies.

Primary skills or responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Analytical skills: To carry out their duties, one of the most important skills for a software project leader to possess are analytical skills. Their role and responsibilities require that they analyze users’ needs, usually via a Business Requirements document, and then design software to meet those needs.
Communication skills: The software project leader duties rely on communication skills. All the developers working a project must be given clear instructions.
Creativity: A software project leader should also be able to apply creativity, which is critical to execution of their duties.
Detail oriented: A large part of what a software project leader does relies on being "detail oriented." The developers they lead often work on many parts of an application or system at the same time, and they therefore must be able to handle and manage multiple details.
Problem-solving skills: Another vital skill that a software project leader should have is the ability to resolve issues. This is essential to what software project leaders do, as they oversee software development from beginning to end. So, they must be able to solve problems that arise throughout the process.
Project Management Skills: Using tools such as Jira, Confluence, Teams, Office
Performs other duties and assignments as required.
Prerequisites:
This highly motivated person must have:
A bachelor's degree in information technology, software development management, software engineering, computer science, or equivalent experience.
Proven experience in project management, application development environments, tools, and methodologies.
6+ years’ experience in application development & maintenance, preferably to include SQL, Shell Scripting, PERL, Python, Java or C.
5+ years' with recent COBOL (Acucobol) development.
Good working knowledge of project estimation techniques.
Good leadership, decision-making, and organization skills.
Strong attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
Competency at defining and creating API’s using tools and technologies including XML, XSD, XSLT, JSON, HTTP/S, REST/SOAP
Ability to work with a team or independently
Experience with Linux/Unix Operating Systems, including vi
Prior experience with travel industry preferred such as hotels and transportation (flights and/or rental cars).
Starting pay range for this position is $100,000-130,000 annually. Additionally, you will be eligible to participate in our management incentive program based upon the achievement of certain corporate financial and personal business goals and objectives
