Responsibilities
  • Resolve inquiries received by telephone, email, or written correspondence from agents, producers, and other clients by gathering, researching, and analyzing policy information.
  • Determine case activation status and process accounting items, researching additional items before activation and payment to the producer or agent when needed.
  • Identify potential problems, make decisions based on similar past cases, and escalate situations requiring management attention.
  • Analyze and approve cases from the underwriter and review them for completeness and accuracy.
  • Code the appropriate system to issue cases within established service-time and quality guidelines.
  • Recommend steps to agents, producers, and internal and external clients to move cases to completion.
  • Use complex systems and manual processes to verify, enter, and approve life and health insurance policies for prompt issuance and compliance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Analyze and make decisions on exception processing where precedent has not been established, identify the cause of each exception, and determine corrective action for the master record.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal life insurance guidelines, including producer licensing, replacements, and 1035 exchanges.
  • Perform refund transactions and manually update policy records to reflect accurate paid-to dates, premium amounts, and draft information.
  • Apply alternative client payment solutions, including check by mail, electronic funds transfer, and wire transfer, and complete the related accounting.
  • Identify system or procedural problems and recommend improvements benefiting producers, agents, home-office associates, and clients.
  • Review guardianship paperwork, powers of attorney, collateral assignments, trust agreements, and court orders to determine whether documents authorize the requestor to complete a transaction.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.
  • Manage, review, and process life insurance applications during the new-business process.
  • Establish and proactively maintain relationships with agents, producers, and internal and external clients.
  • Answer questions about all aspects of the insurance application process and provide accurate, detailed, and complete information.
  • Work with minimal supervision, make decisions within an established range of authority, escalate issues to the manager when necessary, and provide regular updates.
Desired Qualifications
  • An Associate's Degree is preferred.
  • Proven success in a Specialist and/or Analyst role and/or comparable position is preferred.
