Nevada State University invites applications for the position of Student Worker - LASB Laboratory Technician. The student worker will help set up labs that students perform at Nevada State University

Core Responsibilities:

• Help set up laboratory experiments.
• Help prepare chemical reagents and biological media according to specific formula.
• Help prepare specimens and samples for labs.
• Help maintain and operate common laboratory devices, for example pH meter, centrifuge, and micro pipettes.
• Provide support to instructors during the lab activities in terms of material and supplies.
• Help update and maintain inventory.
• Attend safety training.
• Promote safe practices while experiments are being conducted.
• Help maintain cleanliness and organization of lab classrooms and storage rooms.
• Help maintain appropriate labeling and disposals of both biological and chemical wastes.
• Help maintain cadaver labs.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be in good academic standing and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
• Must be enrolled as a degree seeking student with a minimum of 6 credits in the current or upcoming semester at Nevada State.
• Must be able to work evenings.
• Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas).

Preferred Qualifications:

• GPA of 2.5 or higher.
• Completed college level lab science course work.
• Completed biology, chemistry or other lab science course work at Nevada State University.

Work Hours:

This position will work 19.5 hours per week.

Hourly Rate:

$14.00 per hour.
