The Job:  

• Provide resources and expertise in the manufacturing processes, systems, training, and employee relations.

• Manage the work team, integrate new hires, coordinate production staff, employee rotation and employee movement; evaluate employee’s performance; review and approve timecards, PTO, and any progressive discipline.
• Promote safe work habits of subordinates and compliance with safety rules in work areas. Responsible for all near miss, incident, quality, safety, and property damage investigations and corrective action.
• Develop and implement (or assist with) all phases of team or individualized training.  Evaluate skills gaps and implement cross training to meet business needs.
• Provide employees with required resources to perform their job safely and effectively (personal protective equipment, training, tools)
• Drive, produce and communicate results of department safety, quality, customer service and cost KPI’s for assigned shift.  Maintain and encourage consistent communications to operations team and direct reports.
• Assist in maintaining effective operating departments by controlling activity within prescribed quality standards, production levels, and cost levels, while keeping a focus on safety and manufacturing objectives.  Maintain a clean and orderly work environment. 
• Management of inventory accuracy through cycle counts, scrap transactions, production transactions, and BOM yield reviews.
• Perform audits, quantify, develop and implement Year on Year improvements in safety metrics, scrap, efficiency, 5S, and delivery performance.  Recommend process improvements, changes in equipment, tooling or manufacturing processes; submit ideas for cost savings.
• Assists in the preparation of departmental budgets when required.  Help control costs throughout the year.
• Actively promotes the principles of lean manufacturing; participates in Kaizen activities as required.

The Person:  

• Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
• Proficient in use of email, internet, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.  Familiar with use of employee timekeeping, production planning, and inventory systems.  SAP knowledge desired, but not required.
• Knowledge of production planning
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts
