We are looking for an experienced backend engineer to join one of our excellent cross-functional teams and help to lead and shape our overall cross-team technical capabilities. This role will deliver code and also mentor our engineers and help deepen our technical excellence across our stack and our technical practices.

The Staff Backend Engineer contributes across our entire BE stack and platform, impacting our marketplace users, as well as evolving internal tooling and software that impacts platform stability and scalability and helps all of our developers work more effectively.

You will work in a cross-functional squad environment with product managers, designers, and frontend engineers. Each squad owns their roadmap and works together to define the right solutions for our customers and partners.

Projects cut across multiple areas, including:

- Backend development within a team’s product domain

- Cross-squad platform development

- Devops and SRE

- Microservices written primarily in Java with Spring Boot and Quarkus

- Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) and dev workflow on Google Cloud Platform

- A fully CI/CD Kubernetes setup

- A big juicy backlog of greenfield projects just waiting for you to code!

- Experience driving technical decisions, design, stack choices, and best practices.
