Normal is a New York-based deep-tech startup founded by former engineers from Google Brain, Alphabet X, and Palantir. Our products serve as critical full-stack infrastructure for our enterprise users in deploying AI into high-stakes applications. We are addressing the challenges of reliability, adaptivity, and auditability, which have traditionally been central barriers to adoption.

Thus far, AI has been subject to technological limitations such as unpredictable factual errors in generative AI (known as hallucinations) or lack of auditability as black-box models. Consequently, these limitations restrict the application of AI primarily to consumer-grade, low-stakes generative AI workflows and basic pattern recognition systems.

Our approach involves redesigning AI systems from the ground up, contrasting other surface-level approaches. Our AI application development platform is powered by novel full-stack probabilistic machine learning infrastructure driven by thermodynamic physics. About The Role
As a Senior Full-Stack Engineer at Normal Computing, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining our cutting-edge full-stack AI platform. You will be responsible for creating innovative, scalable, and high-performing software solutions that meet both the needs of our customers and the company’s strategic objectives.
Depending on interest and skills, responsibilities could include:
Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable software across the full-stack AI platform, and broader tooling, dashboarding, and infrastructure
Build UIs and web interfaces to develop, deploy, and visualize both next-gen AI models and applications, and Thermodynamic AI Hardware
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers, to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Optimize and enhance the performance, security, and maintainability of our software systems and infrastructure.
Stay informed of the latest industry trends and technologies, contributing to the continuous improvement and innovation of our platform.
Mentor and guide junior colleagues, fostering a collaborative, growth-oriented environment that encourages knowledge sharing and professional development.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
4+ years of experience in full-stack software development, with a strong emphasis on web applications and cloud computing.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or similar, and experience with modern frontend frameworks (React).
Solid understanding of backend technologies and frameworks, we use FastAPI.
Experience with database systems (SQL/NoSQL, embeddings) and data storage solutions.
Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and any cloud platform like GCP, AWS, Azure.
Strong understanding of software development best practices, such as version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, testing, and code reviews.
Leadership and collaboration qualities, enthusiasm for real-world, responsible impact
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and optimize complex systems.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

NY Base Pay Range: $150,000-$215,000
A variety of factors are considered when determining someone’s compensation–including a candidate’s professional background, experience, and location. Final offer amounts may vary from the amounts listed above.
